You should know what you're swimming in
Badkollen brings together Sweden's swimming spots and official data on water, weather and water quality in one place — so deciding where to swim becomes easy.
Why Badkollen?
Sweden has over 2,800 places to take a dip — sea bays, lakes, ponds and beaches in the middle of cities. But the information about them is scattered: water temperature from one authority, bathing water quality from another, and the spots themselves often only known to locals.
Badkollen brings all of this together in a single app. Whether you're after a quick dip after work, planning a full day with the kids at an EU-classified beach, or exploring a new city — you should be able to make an informed decision in a few seconds.
Data sources we trust
We don't build on guesswork or scraped data. The catalogue of swimming spots, water quality, EU classification and algae warnings come from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (HaV). Water temperature, air temperature and wind come from SMHI's open data — the same sources municipalities and beach operators use themselves.
What we're working on
Who's behind Badkollen?
Badkollen is built by Shape Labs AB, a small Swedish team that builds apps for people who love the outdoors, water and good design.
